SITE SURVEYS AND INVESTIGATIONS
The EMI/EMC Laboratories of RFI Industries located in Australia can undertake comprehensive
ambient electromagnetic radiation (EMR) site surveys and investigations to cover various customer
requirements including tests to:
- RPS 2003 (ARPANSA)
- NHMRC RHS No.30
- AS/NZS 2772.2
- AS/NZS 2344
- EN 50147
- IEEE 299
- IEEE 473
- MIL STD 285

Surveys
Electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements at a particular site can be measured to address potential electromagnetic radiation hazard (EMR, RadHaz) concerns to meet Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Measurements can be made in accordance with the Radiation Protection Standard published by ARPANSA which covers the 3kHz to 300GHz EMF range as well as the National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines covering 50/60Hz magnetic fields. Surveys near radio transmitters including mobile phone towers, electrical power installations within buildings and HV power lines are often carried out. Recommendations can be provided regarding any mitigation measures required such as mapping of exclusion zones, installation of shielding or relocation of cabling or equipment.
Shielding
Shielding effectiveness tests can also be carried out to assess the attenuation (supression) performance of
shielding installed in a building or that of shielded enclosures used for scientific and medical research. As a manufacturer of electromagnetic shielding solutions RFI Industries can provide a cost effective consulting, custom manufacturing and installation service to address any shielding requirements.
Investigations
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) investigations can be carried out by professional staff to assist in resolving operational problems with field installed equipment. This may include measurements of ambient electromagnetic fields, localisation of the source of emissions and evaluation of the susceptibility of equipment to interference.
