RFI Industries is a wholly owned Australian company established in
Bayswater, Victoria, in 1976.
Initially involved in the design and manufacture of RF shielded enclosures for the Australian market, RFI Industries increased its influence in all commercial, medical and government areas and has been responsible for over 800 RF and magnetic shielded enclosures within Australia and overseas including New Zealand, New Guinea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Egypt, Spain and India. RFI Industries also has a partner company in India and has sales representatives in New Zealand, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Pakistan and Israel.
In 1985, RFI Industries established the first commercial EMI/EMC test facility in Australia. Since then the company has provided consultation, training and testing services to assist commercial manufacturers in meeting civil and military EMI/EMC standards.
Testing is carried out in the company's RF Shielded Laboratory Complex (which includes an anechoic test facility large enough to test motor vehicles) in
Bayswater, as well as at an "all weather" Open Area Test Site (OATS) at
Tooborac, approximately 100km north of Melbourne. Site surveys at customer's venues are also carried out.
RFI Industries, as well as manufacturing RF shielded enclosures and providing EMI/EMC testing and consultative services, also supplies a wide range of EMI/EMC test equipment and components including EMI filters, gaskets, conductive caulks and laminates, ferrites and microwave absorbers. RFI Industries Pty Limited
RFI Industries was formed as a division of Scalar Industries Pty. Ltd. in 1973 to design, manufacture, install and test
R.F. Shielded Enclosures. This division was staffed by ex-members of Belling & Lee Limited, all with many years of experience in
R.F. Shielding.
Due to growth and a need for additional manufacturing space, the division was incorporated in December, 1976 as a separate company. This new company, Scalar
RFI Pty. Limited, was established in Bayswater, an outer suburb of Melbourne, in conjunction with Sydney based C.D. Townsend (Eng.) Pty. Ltd. Whilst the company continued to design and manufacture shielded enclosures, it was decided to also set up the first EMI/EMC test laboratory in Australia.
In 1984, minor changes in share holding made it necessary for the company to change its name to
RFI Industries Pty Limited. The company has since continued to flourish and has been responsible for over 600 installations within Australia and overseas, including New Zealand, New Guinea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Taiwan, Korea and Jordan.
RFI Industries has offices in Melbourne and Sydney (Australia) and Secunderabad (India) as well as manufacturing facilities in Melbourne and
Secunderabad.
